Icertis cofounder Samir Bodas passes away

SaaS unicorn Icertis’ cofounder Samir Bodas has passed away at the age of 61 following a long battle with cancer.

“It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Samir Bodas, our cofounder, long-time Chief Executive Officer, and Executive Chairman, following a courageous battle with cancer. This is a loss felt by many, and our thoughts are with Samir’s family, friends, and all those who had the privilege of knowing him personally,” said the company in a statement.

Condoling the demise of Bodas, fellow co-founder and Icertis CTO Monish Darda said, “He challenged all of us to think bigger, act with integrity, and to create a consequential and enduring company. The company we are today is a testament to his vision, and his lasting influence will never be forgotten”.

Samir Bodas, cofounder of SaaS unicorn Icertis, was born in Pune and moved to the US in 1982 to study computer science at the University of Texas at Austin. He later graduated from Wharton Business School. Throughout his career, he held roles at National Instruments, Microsoft, iMandi, Jamcracker, and Aztecsoft.

In 2009, Bodas, along with Monish Darda, founded Icertis to provide enterprise contract management solutions. Its flagship AI-powered platform, Icertis Contract Management (ICM), manages sell-side, buy-side, and corporate contracts worldwide.

Under his leadership, Icertis grew to serve over one-third of Fortune 100 companies across sectors like financial services, healthcare, retail and manufacturing. The company has raised more than $560 million in funding and was valued at $5 billion in its last fundraise in 2022. Icertis became a unicorn in 2019 after raising $115 million in a round led by Greycroft and PremjiInvest.
