The National eGovernance Division (NeGD), under the Ministry of Electronics and IT, has launched Entity Locker, a digital platform to simplify storing, sharing and verifying business documents.
Entity Locker is a secure, cloud-based platform designed for various entities like corporations, MSMEs, startups, trusts and societies.
This initiative supports the government’s vision for better digital governance and easier business processes, as outlined in the Union Budget 2024-25.

The platform was launched shortly after the government released draft rules for the Digital Public Data Protection law, which require parental consent for children to use social media.
“Entity Locker’s seamless integration with systems such as the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, the Goods and Services Tax Network (GSTN), the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) and other regulatory institutions provides businesses instant access to critical documents. This connectivity facilitates simplified compliance processes and ensures efficient document management,” the IT ministry said.
The rules propose that internet and social media platforms use a government-issued ID or a digital locker to verify a child's age and their relationship with the user claiming to be their guardian.
The platform will provide Aadhaar-verified role-based access for accountability, legally valid digital signatures for document verification and 10 GB of free storage.
