Dr. V Narayanan has been appointed as the next chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), according to an official announcement. He will succeed the current ISRO chief, S. Somnath and will take over on January 14.
S. Somanath, the outgoing chairman, took over in January 2022 and has successfully led ISRO through key missions, including the recent Chandrayaan-3 moon landing.

A Distinguished Career in Space Exploration
Dr. Narayanan, a distinguished scientist at ISRO, is currently the Director of the Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre (LPSC). With nearly four decades of experience at ISRO, he has held several key positions.
His expertise in rocket and spacecraft propulsion has been instrumental in major projects including the C25 Cryogenic Project for the GSLV Mk III vehicle, also known as ISRO's 'Bahubali' rocket.
His leadership in cryogenic propulsion has contributed significantly to advancements in India's space technology.
Dr. Narayanan joined ISRO in 1984, initially working on solid propulsion projects like Sounding Rockets and Augmented Satellite Launch Vehicle (ASLV) and Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) at the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC).
The ISRO scientist has received several prestigious awards and honors, including the Silver Medal from IIT Kharagpur, a Gold Medal from the Astronautical Society of India (ASI), and the National Design Award from NDRF.
