Microsoft Appoints Vaishali Kasture as India SMC Lead

Vaishali Kasture, a former executive of Amazon Web Services (AWS), has been appointed as the new general manager of Microsoft's small, medium, and corporate (SMC) divisions in India and South Asia.

Kasture, a graduate of the Sydenham College of Commerce and the Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies in Mumbai, has held positions at organizations including CitiBank, Goldman Sachs, and Deloitte.

She has accumulated more than 25 years of experience in the fields of corporate and investment banking, credit, outsourcing, and technology. She established the independent software vendors (ISV) segment and served as the leader of the digital native and enterprise segments at AWS.

In December of the previous year, she relinquished her position as the interim country director of AWS India. She is the second executive from AWS India that Microsoft has recruited in the past year. Puneet Chandok, who previously served as the chief of AWS India, was appointed as the corporate vice president of Microsoft India and South Asia in June of the previous year.

Kasture's appointment is a result of Microsoft's efforts to fortify its position in the Indian cloud market, compete with the industry leader AWS, and complete its expansion plans in the country. With an investment of INR 15,000 Cr over a 15-year period, Microsoft intends to establish its greatest data center in Hyderabad, India.
