Dr. Meat, a brand run by Sukos Foods, has been acquired by ZappFresh, a D2C meat delivery partner. ZappFresh has achieved a significant milestone with this tactical choice as it prepares to enter the lucrative south market.
With this acquisition, ZappFresh anticipates reaching 70 crores in Bangalore within a year and 300 crores by the end of the fiscal year 2023–24, as per reported by Entrepreneur.com.
“We have actively sought opportunities for strategic partnerships and acquisitions in recent years. However, Dr. Meat stood out among other D2C contenders due to its strong alignment with ZappFresh’s fundamental principles. Dr. Meat’s demonstrated ability to achieve substantial scale without compromising its bottom line resonates strongly with ZappFresh’s vision,” said Deepanshu Manchanda, the founder, ZappFresh.
Deepanshu Manchanda and Shruti Gochhwal founded Zappfresh in June 2015 after recognising a sizable business opportunity in providing premium meat products that were previously dominated by the unsanitary and problematic local wet market. Frozen meat options later took over, but this is not the preferred workaround for Indian consumers.
With more than 25 years of experience in the poultry industry, Dr. Meat provides the most juicy and tender chicken, raised at their poultry farms on the outskirts of Bengaluru using cutting-edge sustainable breeding techniques.
