ISRO Chairman S. Somanath Inaugurates Facilities at HAL to Support LVM3 Programme

At the Aerospace Division of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, ISRO Chairman S Somanath officially opened the company’s cutting-edge propellant tank production and computer numerical control (CNC) machining facilities.

The facilities, according to the business, will greatly increase ISRO’s capacity to meet its expanding production needs, especially for the Launch Vehicle Mark 3, India’s most potent and heaviest rocket.

As things are, ISRO requires six LVM3 launches annually, but the current capacity only permits two launches.

By filling this gap, the facilities will allow HAL to produce enough essential parts to sustain the yearly manufacturing of six LVM3 rockets.

In a symbolic move, ISRO was also given the first Gaganyaan Service Module and LVM3 U Isogrid Version Hardware during the program.

S. Somanath, Chairman, ISRO, said: “HAL was set to play a larger role in ISRO’s future  missions and hence, should focus on emerging technologies, designing challenges, and take up end-to-end tasks to ease the pressure on ISRO”
