Idea of Zomato
In the early days, Ordering food from home wasn’t simple. People had to choose from multiple restaurants without knowing any information, reviews, and ratings. Discounts and offers on dining and food delivery were also rare.
After graduating from IIT Delhi, he joined Bain and Company as a Senior Associate Consultant in 2006. While working, there he founded FoodieBay.com, which was later renamed as Zomato.com. The idea came when he saw people standing in long queues to place their orders. At that time Deepinder and his colleague Pankaj, came up with this creative solution, so people could easily order food.
The duo decided to make a food ordering website for Bain employees using the company intranet. To their surprise, the site became very popular and received a lot of traffic. Zomato founders realized they could easily revolutionize the food tech industry.
