IT services company HCL Technologies and tech giant IBM said they would be working together to create a Generative AI Centre of Excellence.

Together with IBM, HCLTech wants to teach 10,000 of its engineers and builders how to use IBM's AI technologies, especially "watsonx."

Watsonx from IBM is a system for AI and data that was made for businesses. The center can be reached through HCLTech's AI and cloud-native labs in the US cities of Noida, London, New Jersey, and Santa Clara.

Additionally, it will assist businesses in updating old software, creating use cases for IT service management, simplifying code, boosting skill development on the Watsonx platform, and allowing for constant innovation.

The centre will give clients access to learning and teaching materials about many AI technologies, such as watsonx.ai, to help them improve their skills and give them a place to build use cases.

Stephen Smith, General Manager, Service Partners, IBM Ecosystem, said: "Through this Centre of Excellence, we plan to empower our joint clients to rapidly explore, experiment and engineer generative AI solutions with watsonx that are designed to meet their current business challenges,"

Alan Flower, EVP, Global Head, AI and Cloud Native Labs, HCLTech, said: "This expansion of our work with IBM will facilitate rapid exploration of AI's potential as we create highly differentiated HCLTech offerings using the latest IBM technology. We plan to embed watsonx in HCLTech AI Force with GenAI-powered solutions to support code modernisation,"
