According to Uttar Pradesh chief secretary Durga Shankar Mishra, there are over 90,000 startups registered in India, which places it the fourth largest in the world. He added that with about 10,000 startups registered in Uttar Pradesh alone, the nation ranks third on the scale of the startup ecosystem.

The remarks were made at the Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University’s “Startup Samvad 2.0” opening ceremony. 48 startups from different industries were featured at the event. Mishra emphasised the significance of turning concepts into profitable business models and urged young people to concentrate on problem-solving skills through entrepreneurship.

He made this statement during the ‘Startup Samvad 2.0’ opening ceremony at Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU). Collaboration between the university’s innovation hub and ‘I Hub Gujarat’ allowed for the day-long event. The former president Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, soon after whom the technical university is named, was also celebrated during the programme on his birthday, as per reported by Hindustan Times.

He claimed that Dr. Kalam made an effort to develop and uncover kids’ hidden talents. “His dream is coming true through this startup. Young talent is trying to solve the problems of the society with their ideas, but we have to develop those ideas into startups and then into successful business models,” Mishra said.

The programme featured up to 48 startups in the fields of agriculture, technology, health, and services. The chief secretary stated at the time that the most recent start-up report shows that the government’s efforts in support of startups over the previous few years are now bearing fruit.

Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU), formerly Uttar Pradesh Technical University (UPTU), is a public collegiate university in Lucknow in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.
