Pontaq Ventures invests Rs 5.5 crore in Dweepi, Edgehax

Pontaq Ventures invests Rs 5.5 crore in Dweepi, Edgehax

Pontaq Ventures, a UK–India venture capital firm based in Chennai, has announced a ₹5.5 crore investment in two Indian deep-tech startups, Dweepi and Edgehax.

The funding will help the companies build their products, expand their technology, and roll out their solutions to more enterprises as they grow in India and abroad.

This is Pontaq’s second time investing in both startups.

“India’s DeepTech startup ecosystem is witnessing remarkable growth, driven by innovations in Robotics, Advanced Materials, Semi-conductors and AI. Our strategic investment in Dweepi and Edgehax underscores our commitment to nurturing homegrown DeepTech ventures that address critical infrastructure and enterprise challenges and accelerate product innovation,” said  Prem Barthasarathy, Founder and Managing Partner of Pontaq. 

Pontaq, based in Chennai, has invested in more than 190 startups, including over 140 deep-tech companies in India and the UK. The firm focuses on areas like AI, IoT, edge computing, robotics, and enterprise automation. It also helps its portfolio companies with market access and strategic support across borders.

Dweepi builds robotic systems that inspect railway tracks. Its platform uses automation and AI to scan tracks and help railway operators predict maintenance needs for critical infrastructure.

Edgehax creates Edge AI computing platforms that combine processing power, connectivity, and storage in modular units. The company works with enterprises to enable real-time automation, AI processing, and distributed intelligence at the edge.

Pontaq works mainly across the UK–India corridor, with some presence in the US and Canada. The fund invests in clean tech, health tech, fintech, and deep tech, and helps its portfolio companies reach global markets while offering practical, hands-on support.
