“Microdrama combines ‘snackable time’, where attention spans are reduced, with the power of storytelling. Human beings have always had the urge to know more, and we see this will become a $5 billion market in India over the next five years,” said co-founder Singhal.

“India’s next entertainment wave will be mobile-native, emotionally engaging, and built for short attention spans. The Flick TV team brings together expertise in content creation and testing, along with a deep understanding of user acquisition and engagement—making them frontrunners to innovate and lead this emerging category,” said Mayank Jain, principal at Stellaris Venture Partners.

Launched in April this year by former ShareChat executives Singhal and Sanidhya Mittal, along with former pocket fm senior director Pratik Anand, Flick TV provides short, vertical-format drama episodes—each under five minutes—designed for mobile-first viewers.

Singhal earlier built ShareChat’s short video creator ecosystem and worked on scaling creators and monetisation at EloElo. Anand previously led new user growth at meesho and managed content categories at audio series platform Pocket FM.

The startup plans to release over 100 original titles across genres like romance, thrillers, and slice-of-life, while expanding content production into four new regional languages.

It’s also integrating generative AI tools into its production process to assist with scripting, storyboarding, and visual planning.
