IntrCity SmartBus raises Rs 250 Cr in Series D round led by A91 Partners

IntrCity SmartBus, a tech-driven intercity bus network platform, has raised ₹250 crore in a Series D funding round led by venture capital firm A91 Partners.

The new funding will be used to improve customer experience, upgrade fleet management technology, and expand operations across Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities.

IntrCity SmartBus also plans to double its fleet size and is targeting a ₹1,000 crore turnover by next year.

“IntrCity SmartBus continues to scale organically and profitably and is projected to maintain its 50 per cent year-on-year growth this year. This new capital enables us to further double down on our vision to transform the bus-travel landscape in India,” co-founder and president Kapil Raizada said.

“They have built a trusted, pan-India brand through exceptional quality and consistency,” said Gautam Mago, General Partner, A91 Partners. “We see potential for IntrCity to become a category-defining leader in intercity mobility.”

About IntrCity SmartBus

Founded in 2019 by Kapil Raizada and Manish Rathi, IntrCity SmartBus, the bus division of RailYatri, provides standardized intercity travel through an asset-light model. Its “SmartBuses” are equipped with IoT devices that enable real-time tracking and data monitoring.

IntrCity SmartBus operates on over 630 routes across 15 states, while its sister platform, RailYatri, serves more than 12 million monthly users, offering train ticket booking and travel insights.

The company plans to double its fleet and achieve a ₹1,000 crore turnover by next year. Although it hasn’t yet filed its FY25 financials, IntrCity reported a 15.9% rise in operating revenue to ₹317.34 crore in FY24, up from ₹273.9 crore in FY23.
