IndiGo Ventures raises Rs 450 crore in first close of debut fund; invests in Jeh Aerospace

IndiGo Ventures, the investment arm of India’s biggest airline IndiGo, has announced the first close of its first fund at Rs 450 crore.

Launched in August 2024 with SEBI’s approval to raise up to Rs 600 crore, the fund will invest in early-stage startups in aviation and related sectors, mainly from pre-Series A to Series B stages.

With this announcement, IndiGo Ventures also revealed its first investment in Bengaluru-based aerospace and defence startup Jeh Aerospace. The amount invested has not been disclosed.

About Jeh Aerospace

Founded in 2023, Jeh Aerospace, a Bengaluru-based startup, makes high-precision parts for aero engines and defence use. The company says it has delivered over 1 lakh flight-critical components and signed $100 million in long-term contracts with global aerospace players. It has a team of 100 engineers and follows top industry quality standards (AS9100).

With this investment, IndiGo Ventures—IndiGo airline’s venture capital arm—aims to use its aviation expertise along with capital to build strong partnerships in the sector.

IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers said the investment will help speed up the adoption of advanced technologies and boost India’s status as a growing aviation hub.

Jeh Aerospace CEO Vishal R. Sanghavi said the funding will help scale up production and improve its AI-based manufacturing systems.

IndiGo now joins other Indian companies that are starting venture funds to support startups connected to their main business sectors.
