Raaz App, a healthcare platform focused on male reproductive health, has raised $1 million in funding led by the early-stage venture fund Fireside Ventures.

The funding round also saw participation from Campus Fund, as well as founders like Traya cofounder Altaf Saiyed and Better Capital founder Vaibhav Domkundwar, among others.

The company plans to use the funds to improve the platform, expand its services and reach more people. It will also support clinical trials, develop tech-based treatment plans and run awareness campaigns.

The platform plans to sign up 50,000 users by next year and will team up with diagnostic providers to create new treatment plans. In the future, it will look into the fertility sector and expand to new areas.

Akash Kumar, co-founder and chief executive of Raaz, said  “In small towns, we saw that the people solving these problems were often quacks. People simply weren’t going to doctors for these issues…And when we looked deeper into it, we realized that people avoided doctors or pharmacies because these professionals were from their own vicinity. Unlike in metro cities like Delhi or Bangalore, people in smaller towns know each other."

“We are also building a data engine that contains anonymised case histories of many patients, analysing which interventions were most effective in each case. We’re also examining the different variables in each case and identifying the lifestyle habits that are closely correlated with some of these issues,” Akash said.

“Their fresh perspective and deep empathy for Bharat's needs, combined with their tech-first approach, exemplifies the transformative impact that student entrepreneurs can create in solving critical healthcare challenges,” said, Richa Bajpai, Campus Fund.
