Google Partners with Andhra Pradesh to Support Local Startups with AI

Tech giant google has signed an MoU with the Andhra Pradesh government to promote the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) across key sectors including sustainability and healthcare. 

The partnership aims to enhance digital infrastructure develop ai skills and support the local startup ecosystem.  

Key Highlights of the Collaboration: 

1. Startups Support:
Google will foster local AI startups through accelerator programs, offering mentorship, networking opportunities, cloud credits, technical training and business support.  

2. Skill Development: 
A certification course in AI will be introduced aiming to train 10,000 individuals to integrate AI into daily tasks and improve productivity.  

3. Government Training: 
Google Cloud will provide state agency personnel with skilling programs on cybersecurity, data analytics and generative AI.

4. Sustainability Initiatives: 
AI solutions will address issues like air quality, urban planning and disaster management.  

5. Healthcare Advancements: 
Google’s Health AI imaging models will be deployed to explore generative AI applications in healthcare.

6. AI Pilot Programs:
Pilot projects will apply AI to agriculture, traffic management, website modernization and citizen grievance redressal systems.  

Google Cloud India’s VP and Country MD, Bikram Singh Bedi, expressed enthusiasm about merging Google’s AI expertise with the state’s vision to build an AI-ready workforce, support startups and address critical challenges.  

This initiative aligns with Google’s broader efforts to strengthen India’s GenAI ecosystem. 

Recently, Google announced $200K in cloud credits for select AI startups and collaborations with accelerators like 500, StartX and Berkeley Skydeck. India’s GenAI ecosystem, projected to become a $17B market by 2030, has already seen over $600M in funding for more than 100 startups between 2019 and 2023.
