D2C insurer ACKO brings MS Dhoni on board as investor and brand ambassador

D2C insurer ACKO brings MS Dhoni on board as investor and brand ambassador

Former Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has made a strategic investment in D2C insurance platform Acko via his family office, Midas Deals. The company has not disclosed the investment amount.

According to a company statement, Dhoni will also take on the role of Acko’s brand ambassador.

"Their tech-first, customer-centric approach reflects the way new India wants to engage with insurance. I’m excited to support a brand that’s focused on trust and transformation," Dhoni said, on his investment in the insurer.

The company holds a strong position in embedded insurance, partnering with over 50 internet ecosystem players like OYO, redBus, Zomato, HDB Financial Services and Urban Company to offer mobility and gadget insurance.

So far, Acko claims to have served over 78 million customers and issued more than 1 billion insurance policies.

In FY24, Acko crossed ₹2,000 crore in revenue, growing 19.8% from ₹1,758 crore in FY23 to ₹2,106 crore.
