Chennai Entrepreneurs Launches Private Space Technology Accelerator Vaanam

Hariharan Vedamurthy and Sameer Bharat Ram, who are entrepreneurs, have established Vaanam, which is India's inaugural private space technology accelerator, in Chennai.

The primary objective of this initiative is to foster the development of the domestic space startup ecosystem.

The Vaanam Space Tech Accelerator seeks to revolutionize the startup ecosystem in space technology with the guidance of Padma Bhushan Nambi Narayanan, a former scientist at ISRO, as stated in a press release.

The objective is to accelerate advancements in space technology and support companies in attaining successful market adoption by offering them commercial knowledge and specialized tools. This initiative serves as a launchpad for early-stage firms, as mentioned in the statement.

Dr TRB Rajaa, the Minister for Industries, Investment Promotion, and Commerce of the Tamil Nadu Government, officially inaugurated the accelerator. Shri Nambi Narayanan, who has been honored with the Padma Bhushan, was present at the function.

Hariharan Vedamurthy, co-founder, Vaanam, said: "There's a wide gamut of use cases in the space tech sector in general, say from mining satellite data to mining asteroids and there's an ever-growing demand to bring these use cases to fruition. In India, in recent years, we've been seeing many startups sprouting up catering to these demands, yet there's a whitespace in a solid commercialization framework to bring these great demands to market,"
