[Funding alert] BlackSoil Raises $25 Mn in Fresh Funding Round

Using a combination of bank loans, non-convertible debentures, commitments from alternative investment funds, and direct co-investments from banks, family offices, corporate treasuries, and high-net-worth individuals, BlackSoil Capital, an alternative lending platform, has raised $25 million (roughly Rs 205 crore).

In the most recent investment round, which brought in additional funding on top of the $35 million the platform had already raised in the first half of FY23, about 60% of BlackSoil's previous investors participated. BlackSoil raised a total of $60 million in the prior fiscal year by closing the most recent round within the same fiscal year, as per reported by BW Disrupt.

BlackSoil, a debt investor founded in 2016, provides funding to new-age, digital-first companies operating in various industries. The platform currently oversees over $90 million in assets and has invested $270 million across 135 transactions.

Nine unicorns, including Upstox, Udaan, Zetwerk, Oyo, and Spinny, as well as Curefoods, a cloud kitchen company, BluSmart, an electric cab company, and ideaForge, a drone manufacturer, are included in BlackSoil's portfolio.
