Genspark, an artificial intelligence search startup established by former Baidu executives, has secured $60 million in an oversized initial funding round.
The company is one of several challengers attempting to challenge Google’s dominance in the search market.
The startup is presently without revenue and has been valued at $260 million by Singapore-based fund Lanchi Ventures, which is leading the funding. In an effort to distinguish itself from its Silicon Valley origins, Lanchi Ventures, which was previously known as BlueRun Ventures China, underwent a rebranding last year.

Genspark asserts that its search engine employs a diverse array of AI model providers to index and summarise information. It distinguishes itself by employing a variety of specialized AI agents to produce new, personalized pages for each query, with the objective of delivering valuable results on a single page.
Genspark is currently available for free, and it is possible that a paid subscription may be implemented in the future. It employs a diverse array of large language models to address tasks, including open-source models like Meta’s Llama and OpenAI’s GPT models.
Genspark’s funding is timely, as the search engine market is currently undergoing a resurgence of competition due to the introduction of new methods for individuals to access and compile information online through AI models.
