Drone Startup Aereo Wins $1 Mn Coal India Contract To Digitize Coal Mines

On Thursday, Aereo (formerly known as Aarav Unmanned Systems) declared that it secured the most significant drone solutions contract from Coal India Limited (CIL). In an open tender process with several bidders, Aereo was selected as the lowest bidder (L1) with the most exceptional technical score.

In an open tender process with several bidders, Aereo was selected as the lowest bidder (L1) with the most exceptional technical score.

The contract, which is worth USD 1 million, is a component of a more extensive digital initiative currently undertaken by Coal India Limited, as per reported by BW Businessworld.

Aereo will also participate in a knowledge transfer program with CIL by training and guiding CIL's existing survey teams.

This will be the first time that drone usage at this level will be implemented for mining purposes in India. Aereo's contract with CIL represents its second significant accomplishment, following a long-term partnership with Tata Steel to collaboratively develop and provide sustainable end-to-end drone solutions aimed at enhancing the efficiency, safety, and productivity of open-cast mining operations.
