According to Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman's statement on Thursday, the Pradhan Mantri MUDRA Yojana (PMMY) has provided women entrepreneurs with loans totaling 30 Cr over the past ten years.
Union Minister for Finance & Corporate Affairs, Nirmala Sitharaman while presenting the Interim Budget 2024-25 in Parliament today said that the empowerment of women through entrepreneurship, ease of living, and dignity for them has gained momentum in these ten years.

She said women entrepreneurs have received thirty crore loans under the Mudra Yojana. In the last ten years, the percentage of female students enrolled in higher education has increased by 28%.
Girls and women make up forty-three percent of students in STEM courses, among the highest percentages in the world. The rising number of women entering the workforce reflects all these initiatives.

Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY) is a flagship scheme of the Government of India. The scheme facilitates micro credit/Loan up to Rs. 10 lakhs to income-generating micro-enterprises engaged in the nonfarm sector in manufacturing, trading or service sectors including activities allied to agriculture such as poultry, dairy, beekeeping, etc.
The Scheme provides financial assistance extended by Member Lending Institutions to the non-corporate, non-farm sector income-generating activities of micro and small entities.
