Lakshmi Shankar has been appointed as the General Partner of Together Fund, a venture capital firm with a focus on Software-as-a-Service (SaaS).
The company stated that Shankar’s appointment is intended to enhance the VC firm’s emphasis on SaaS and AI, as well as to enhance its connections between the United States and India.
Shankar, who has more than 20 years of experience in developing and expanding enterprise technology and consumer-internet products, recently held the position of Vice President of Product Strategy at Google. He played a crucial role in the worldwide growth of Google Search and the introduction of the Search Generative Experience (now known as ‘AI Overview’). This initiative was Google’s response to OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Microsoft’s New Bing, and Perplexity in the field of artificial intelligence.

Prior to his tenure at Google, Shankar held significant positions at Twitter (now known as ‘X’), collaborating closely with CEO Jack Dorsey and CPO Kayvon Beykpour. In addition, he played a key role in formulating innovative tactics for growth and generating revenue, as well as spearheading the purchase of many startups to support Twitter’s expansion and strategic objectives.
The Together Fund has introduced the Together AI Studio to assist companies in harnessing the capabilities of artificial intelligence (AI). Together AI Studio will provide comprehensive assistance for Together’s AI-focused initiatives, encompassing all stages from the initial concept to reaching scalable growth, hiring, attaining product-market fit, and fostering organizational development.
