Nvidia Becomes World's Most Valuable Company, Surpassing Microsoft

Nvidia is now the world’s most valuable company, moving ahead of Microsoft, driven by its strong position in artificial intelligence (AI).

On Tuesday, Nvidia’s shares went up by 3.4%, pushing its market value to about $3.45 trillion—just above Microsoft’s $3.44 trillion.

This isn’t the first time Nvidia has hit the top. It briefly held the number one spot in January but lost it later. Now, growing demand for its AI chips and strong earnings have helped it reclaim the lead.

Nvidia recently shared its earnings for the first quarter ending April 27, reporting revenue of $44.1 billion. This was 12% more than the previous quarter and 69% higher than the same time last year, showing strong demand for its chips—especially those used in AI and data centers.

Despite global challenges like trade tariffs and restrictions on its H20 chip line, Nvidia’s sales are still growing. In fact, it made $4.6 billion from H20 products alone in the first quarter of fiscal 2026.

Nvidia is doing more than just making chips — it's also building the foundation for artificial intelligence. The company plans to develop AI systems worth up to $500 billion over the next four years, including supercomputers and large data centers.

In April, reports said Nvidia will start making its AI supercomputers in the U.S. for the first time. The company is producing its powerful Blackwell chips in Arizona and building a large AI supercomputer facility in Texas, covering over one million square feet.

Nvidia is working with Foxconn for the Texas plant as part of its plan to make products closer to where they’ll be used. This helps reduce supply chain problems and avoid trade restrictions.
