TagZ, a premium GenZ snack brand and India's first popped chips maker, has recently announced securing $2 million in a Pre-Series A funding round led by a group of investors including 9 Unicorns, Dexter Angels, Agility Ventures, Venture Catalysts, Klub, Indifi, and Rannvijay Singha.

TagZ, a premium GenZ snack brand and India’s first popped chips maker, has recently announced securing $2 million in a Pre-Series A funding round led by a group of investors including 9 Unicorns, Dexter Angels, Agility Ventures, Venture Catalysts, Klub, Indifi, and Rannvijay Singha.

TagZ had previously raised $1.2 million in seed funding from a group of angel investors in 2020, before securing the current funding round. In addition, the company participated in the first season of Shark Tank India and raised an undisclosed amount of funding from Namita Thapar and Ashneer Grover, as per reported by helloentrepreneur.

On the fresh round, Anish Basu Roy, founder and CEO of TagZ, said that the new funding will enable the company to pursue its goal of becoming the fastest growing food D2C brand .” We are thrilled to have such strong support from our investors In our journey of creating a fitter snack brand for the younger generation. We plan to double down on your efforts to grow 4X this year. “

TagZ has plans to utilize the funds for various purposes, including speeding up the company’s growth, penetrating new markets, boosting its manufacturing capacity, improving operations, and introducing new products. Furthermore, the funds will be allocated to enhance TagZ’s technology platform, fortify its logistics network, and increase marketing and brand awareness initiatives.

Anish Basu Roy and Sagar Bhalotia established TagZ Foods in 2019, intending to produce popped potato chips that contain 50% less fat, in addition to a variety of international gourmet dips and center-filled cookies. The company relies on food technology to create its potato chips, which they assert contain no cholesterol, transfat, artificial colors, or preservatives.

Additionally, TagZ, a new-age snacking brand located in Bengaluru, has revealed that Rannvijay Singh, a well-known actor and television personality, has invested in the latest funding round and will serve as the brand’s ambassador. Rannvijay is recognized for his entrepreneurial zeal and his enthusiasm for new and innovative brands. His collaboration with TagZ is predicted to provide the company with a significant advantage in terms of enhancing brand recognition and customer involvement.

Commenting on his association with TagZ, Rannvijay said, “I am excited to partner with TagZ, a company that is at the forefront of the D2C revolution in India. I love the fact that TagZ, as a snack brand, revolves around travel, sports, and the outdoors.

Tushar Agarwal, Partner at Dexter Angels, one of the lead investors in the round, said, “Tagz has garnered significant consumer love as a brand in a short period. Since our investment in their previous round, they have demonstrated impressive scalability and growth over the past 18 months while still maintaining a steadfast focus on profitability. As we continue to partner with Tagz, we are thrilled to double down and support their next phase of growth.”

Over the past 18 months, TagZ has recorded a remarkable 30-fold increase in its sales volumes. The company’s omnichannel approach targets the top 30-40 million households in India, utilizing a network of 5,000 retail stores and distribution via more than 30 e-commerce platforms such as Swiggy Instamart, Zepto, Blinkit, among others, catering to consumers in 22 cities. TagZ has also expanded its market to international locations such as Kuwait, Dubai, Maldives, and Australia, making its products available in those regions.
