He's the Founder of Oscar Expo Design (carpet exports), Co-founder of Jaipur Kaleen Park (India's first eco-friendly carpet & textile park), and Hari Om Decor—a national retail chain for floor coverings. He also leads Swishin Events (event & PR), co-founded the Jaipur Jewellery Show (promoting gems & jewellery), and backs innovation through Swishin Technologies (automated machinery tools).

Entrepreneurship was embedded early in Mahavir Pratap Sharma life. His mother, a first-generation entrepreneur, ran a carpets business. Mahavir Pratap Sharma joined her venture while still in college. Meanwhile, his father, a government employee, had retired and also began engaging with the business. However, due to personal differences, co-working with his father wasn’t feasible. Later Mahavir Pratap Sharma move to the US in search of growth and learning opportunities.
In the US, Mahavir Pratap Sharma continued importing and wholesaling carpets from India and other countries. The sudden demise of his mother — the cornerstone of the family business — brought him back to India in the mid-1990s. Despite the emotional and operational challenges, he spotted an opportunity to innovate. Leveraging his international experience and network, he reshaped the carpet export business in India.
Over time, his entrepreneurial instincts led him to diversify beyond carpets into jewelry, marketing, branding, events, and other sectors. His journey reflects a combination of resilience, constant evolution, and an unwavering “never-give-up” attitude.

Mahavir Pratap Sharma foray into the start-up ecosystem began in the early 2000s when TiE (The Indus Entrepreneurs) came to India. As an active member of Jaipur’s business community, he was invited to join the network. Initially, he remained on the sidelines, not participating actively in start-ups or investments.
However, things shifted dramatically when he became the President of TiE Rajasthan in 2008-09. Hosting the TiE Global Retreat in Jaipur was a game-changing experience. He connected with global leaders and seasoned investors. His deeper involvement with TiE on a global level, where he served on the Board of Trustees and led several key committees.
Motivated to support innovation at a grassroots level and driven by his desire to invest, he co-founded RAIN (Rajasthan Angel Innovators Network) in 2013-14. RAIN aimed to empower early-stage entrepreneurs in Jaipur with seed funding of INR 10–20 lakhs (approximately $20,000–25,000). His efforts played a significant role in elevating Jaipur as a notable hub for start-ups and technology in India. Over the last eight years, he has invested in 17 start-ups through RAIN and continues investing individually.

After the loss of both his mother and brother — the pillars of the family business — he found himself at a crossroads. While his brother had been the creative force, he had focused on marketing. Taking on everything alone wasn’t sustainable, so he decided to empower his senior team by offering them profit-sharing or equity.
