The road wasn't easy. They faced countless challenges, from skeptics to struggles, but never wavered. With unwavering faith, patience, and perseverance to bring their vision to life, they transformed what others dismissed into a thriving business worth crores— Grow The Funguy, generating revenue of ₹1 crore in FY23-24 and aiming ₹3 crore in FY24-25.

Adam's Early Life As Challenge or Strength

Adam Shamsudeen who has a deep love for coding, philosophy, farming, football, and mushrooms. With a high-flying career, he was enjoying life. But a bad experience changed their life. If we go back to their early life, Adam grew up in a simple, humble family in Saudi Arabia.

Life took an unexpected turn when his father, an engineer, suffered a major heart attack. At the time, Adam was in 11th grade. They had to return to Kerala, India, for his father's treatment. It was a tough time for the family, and to survive, they had no choice but to take a loan. It was a time of hardship, but it also shaped Adam's strength.

Having patience, Adam secured a well-paying job after completing a B-tech course. Later, he joined Saama Technologies, where he worked for four impactful years, thriving in the pharma domain. But his journey didn't stop there.

RaeesaManaal: A Female Founder

Everything was going great for Raeesa, who was thriving in her successful corporate career while running her own business, "Beautiful Oops."

Driven by a strong desire to create a positive impact, she and her partner embarked on an entrepreneurial journey. Together, they launched their startup, Grow TheFunguy, marking the beginning of a new chapter in their mission to make a difference.

Adam's father’s illness sparked a question in his mind: Why did this happen? This thought hit him hard.

During his corporate career, Adam became deeply fascinated by the process of making medicine. Often, he'd wonder: "What can be done to improve people's lifestyles and make them healthier?" This question led him to dive into extensive research, ultimately discovering the incredible benefits of adding mushrooms to one's diet.

That discovery became a turning point, a wake-up call that sparked a new purpose.

Leaving High-Paying Jobs to Grow TheFunguy

In their hearts, one thing was clear — they wanted to create something that brought about meaningful change, not just for themselves but for the community around them. This deep conviction led them to leave behind their high-paying jobs and take a leap of faith, knowing their true purpose awaited.

Leaving behind a prosperous corporate career wasn't as easy as it looks. Yet, there was one thing they firmly believed: when you begin something with a pure heart and good intentions, the outcome is always worthwhile. With this belief, they left their job behind, stepping into a new chapter, ready to start a new journey.

Concept to Creation

The plan for Grow TheFunguyhas been made, but turning the concept into reality was not a cup of tea. Working around the clock, brainstorming day and night, Initial challenges, and a little fear about the decision.

But taking a leap of faith, Adam and Raeesa pooled ₹10 lakhs from their savings and aligned their entrepreneurship spirit with purpose, aiming to educate the people on the benefits of different types of medicinal and gourmet mushrooms and provide them to the masses economically.

Their hard work and belief earned ₹3 lakh in funding and grants, which helped propel their dreams forward.

Grow TheFunguy: Mushroom Kits for Home Growers

In 2022, a vision came to life when Adam Shamsudeen and RaeesaManaallaunched "Grow The Fun" based in Kerala.

Aiming to make mushroom growing accessible and enjoyable for everyone, Grow The Fun is an Agri-tech business dedicated to providing high-quality materials for home mushroom cultivation.

The company offers grow kits and supplies and also provides educational resources; they make mushroom cultivation fun and easy for anyone. They also guide those who want to turn mushroom farming into a viable business.

The breakthrough for Grow The Fun came with Adam's ingenious invention, Mushpellets, which marked a turning point in mushroom farming. These organic pellets simplified the entire process, making it so easy. All farmers have to do is add hot water, sprinkle the seed, and let nature take its course—mushrooms grow effortlessly.

With the help of our Mushpellets, farmers have collectively earned ₹ 6 crore in revenue.

Challenges On The Path of Entrepreneurship

The journey of Adam and RaeesaatGrow The Fun wasn't easy. They poured their hearts into every single aspect of their business, handling everything on their own – from creating products to packaging, customer service to shipping.

Being an entrepreneur isn't easy — each day brings its own set of challenges. There was a time when they were earning ₹5 lakh a month, but suddenly, they found themselves at ground zero. Back in the beginning, they weren't earning anything at all.

Each day was a new challenge, but the relentless pursuit of dreams and the unshakable belief that they could be achieved kept the fire burning.

Reaching New Heights

At Grow The Fun, from humble beginnings in 2022, they earned just ₹ 2-3 lakh in revenue. Fast forward to FY23-24, and they've already crossed the ₹ 1 crore mark—a testament to their hard work and vision.

What started as a mission to spread the health benefits of mushrooms has now evolved into a thriving venture, with the ambitious goal of reaching ₹ 3 crore in revenue by FY24-25.
