Zoomcar partners with CARS24 to  improve vehicle safety standards for self-drive cars

Zoomcar, which says it’s India’s largest peer-to-peer car-sharing platform, has teamed up with CARS24, a popular used-car platform, to improve safety and tracking in the self-drive car space.

As part of the tie-up, CARS24 will carry out Pre-Delivery Inspections (PDIs) and install GPS devices in new host vehicles. This will help ensure better transparency, safety and a smoother experience for guests.

The pilot program will start in Delhi, with plans to expand if it goes well. Zoomcar said the partnership aims to reduce mechanical problems, guest complaints and service disruptions.

"This partnership allows us to introduce an added layer of safety, accountability, and transparency, ensuring every vehicle meets a higher standard before it goes live on our platform."

Gajendra Jangid, Co-Founder and CMO at CARS24, said, "We've inspected over a million cars across India, and one thing is clear, trust in used vehicles is built on transparency and data. The self-drive rental space has grown rapidly, but quality standards haven't kept pace." He further added, "Through this partnership with Zoomcar, we are bringing the same inspection rigour that powers India's used car ecosystem to a new category, giving hosts more control, and guests more confidence."

Zoomcar added that certified experts from CARS24 will carry out detailed quality checks on key systems such as brakes, engine, lights, tyres, and overall safety. Vehicles that pass these checks will be labeled as verified on the Zoomcar platform.

As part of the partnership, all Zoomcar vehicles will be fitted with advanced GPS tracking devices. These will allow real-time tracking in case of unauthorized use and help monitor driver behavior, encouraging safer driving.
