Zepto Expands Cafe Services with Dedicated App for Quick Commerce

Quick commerce unicorn Zepto is set to launch a dedicated app for its Zepto Café next week, as announced by Co-Founder and CEO Aadit Palicha.

Zepto Café is growing rapidly, with over 100 cafes launched monthly and already processing 30,000 orders per day. Currently, Zepto users can access Café items through a tab within the main Zepto app, allowing them to place combined orders for groceries and café items. However, it's unclear whether this feature will remain available in the new app.

The decision to launch a separate app for Zepto Cafe reflects a broader trend within the industry as leading players like Swiggy and Zomato debate the merits of a super app strategy versus a focus on specialized brands. Zeptos move could signal a shift in how quick commerce and food delivery services approach their offerings.

Recently, Zepto expanded its Café services in key cities such as Mumbai, Delhi, and Bengaluru, with plans to roll out in Hyderabad, Chennai, and Pune. The café features over 148 items, including freshly brewed chai, coffee, breakfast, pastries, and snacks. The company is targeting a revenue run rate of Rs 1,000 crore by 2026.

Additionally, Zepto is achieving an estimated Annual Run Rate (ARR) GMV of Rs 160 crore, with only 15% of its dark store network operational. The company also reported crossing Rs 1,000 crore in annualized advertising revenue.

However, the company recently faced internal challenges, as its Chief Human Resources Officer Martin Dinesh Gomez resigned amidst concerns over a "toxic work culture."
