To help people to get ready for advanced tech skill jobs, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched the AI Pragya programme (Artificial Intelligence Programme for Resourcefulness, Awareness, Growth, and Youth Advancement).
Under the AI Pragya scheme, 10 lakh people will be trained in fields like artificial intelligence, machine learning, data analytics, and cybersecurity.
Participants will get certificates, and the program aims to boost jobs and support startups in the state. It will be run with help from departments like education, health, agriculture, rural development, revenue, and administration.

At the launch, a short film was shown highlighting Uttar Pradesh's progress. Principal Secretary of IT and Electronics, Anurag Yadav, said the goal is to give people from all backgrounds the digital skills they need to succeed in new tech industries.
"It will provide certification in key domains like AI, machine learning, data analytics and cybersecurity—paving the way for increased employment opportunities and a thriving startup ecosystem in the state," Anurag said.
"This is a significant milestone that marks UP's leap into the era of AI.It will not only unlock new job avenues for youth but also enhance technological efficiency in core sectors such as govt services, farming, education and healthcare," CM Yogi said.
It's important to note that this programme, along with Uttar Pradesh's UP AGREES project (which supports agriculture and rural businesses), is backed by the World Bank. The World Bank has given the state a loan of Rs 2,737 crore for over six years.
This comes as both state and central governments are launching schemes to help people find new job opportunities in a world where AI is becoming more common.
