Snapchat Elevates Asia Pacific President Ajit Mohan To CBO

Snap Inc, the parent company of Snapchat, has promoted Ajit Mohan, its Asia Pacific (APAC) president, to the position of chief business officer (CBO).

Mohan joined Snap in February 2023 from Meta, where he was the vice president and managing director in India. Even as president of the Asia Pacific region, he was part of Snap’s executive team.

In his new role, Mohan will oversee Snap's advertising business as the company gains momentum in the US, while advertisers remain uncertain about TikTok's future.

Evan Spiegel, cofounder and CEO of Snap Inc, said, “We are pleased to announce that Ajit Mohan will be our new chief business officer. Ajit joined Snap over two years ago as president of APAC, where he rapidly grew our business and presence across the region."

“As chief business officer, Ajit will be responsible for growing our advertising business across all regions, and will lead our revenue product and business operations organisations to help bring greater alignment across our teams responsible for serving our advertising partners,” he added.

While leading Meta in India, Mohan helped launch Instagram's short video feature, Reels, just days after the indian government banned TikTok in 2020.

Reels and short videos on Facebook then became the fastest-growing features for Meta in India.

As Snap's Asia Pacific president, Mohan also worked to build a team dedicated to India, as Snapchat aimed to monetize its 200 million users in the country.

Snap is one of the largest social media platforms in india, with 200 million monthly active users. The country is also one of its biggest markets in terms of users. To strengthen its presence, the company has been focusing heavily on expanding in India.
