Ola’s Krutrim Partners With Lenovo To Develop India’s Largest Supercomputer

Ola's AI venture, Krutrim, announced on Wednesday that it is teaming up with Lenovo to develop Krutrim 3, a massive language model with 700 billion parameters. They are also working on building India's largest supercomputer.

This announcement comes after Ola founder Bhavish Aggarwal revealed plans to invest Rs 2,000 crore in Krutrim, with plans to increase the investment to Rs 10,000 crore by next year.

Navendu Agarwal shared that Ola has a dedicated team of 700 people working on its AI projects. The company introduced its first model, Krutrim 1, with 7 billion parameters in late 2023, followed by Krutrim 2, a 12-billion-parameter model, both of which were open-sourced.

“We are building the largest infrastructure and again very proud to say along with Lenovo, we are building the largest supercomputer of India. That will be powered in our cloud. Then we are also building the foundational models and our own chip,” Agarwal reportedly said at the Lenovo TechWorld India 2025 in Mumbai.

“We are very proud to say that we are working on a bigger model, Krutrim 3, which will be a 700 Bn parameter model, which will be an answer from India to show that we can build the best. And we are very proud to partner with Lenovo in this endeavour,” added Agarwal.

The event celebrated Lenovo's 20 years in India.

"Building India's largest supercomputer with @Lenovo at @Krutrim! We need a lot more to bring the AI revolution to India on a large scale. We’re fully committed to making this happen soon!" said Krutrim founder Bhavish Aggarwal in a post on X.

The development comes as countries compete to create efficient and affordable AI models, especially after the rise of the Chinese AI startup DeepSeek.
