Ola Electric to lay off 5% workforce amid restructuring

ola Electric, the Bengaluru-based electric vehicle company founded by Bhavish Aggarwal, announced on Friday that about 5% of its employees will be affected as part of its ongoing restructuring.

In a statement, the company said the job cuts are part of its business turnaround efforts, focusing on building on early successes from its recently launched delivery service, Hyperservice. The service, which promises “one-day resolution” of service-related issues, has now been expanded to cover over 80% of service requests across the country.

Ola Electric said it plans to focus on improving speed and efficiency by increasing automation in its front-end operations. According to EPFO data, the company had over 3,000 employees as of August 2025. However, it did not disclose the exact number of employees affected by the job cuts.

“Ola Electric remains focused on delivering a stronger customer experience and building a leaner organisation positioned for long-term, profitable growth,” the company said in a statement.

It also noted that Ola Electric carried out a similar restructuring in March 2025, cutting over 1,000 jobs to reduce losses. The layoffs affected several departments, including procurement, fulfilment, customer relations and charging infrastructure.

The company has been facing challenges from high losses, customer complaints, and a shrinking share in the EV market. In Q2, it narrowed its net loss by 15% year-on-year to ₹418 crore but its operating revenue fell 43% YoY to ₹690 crore.
