Nvidia is expanding its partnerships in India including with venture capital firms, to support the growth of the country’s rapidly developing AI ecosystem and infrastructure.

In a statement on Wednesday, February 18, the company said it is partnering with venture capital firms such as Peak XV Partners, Z47, Elevation Capital, Nexus Venture Partners and Accel India to identify and fund promising AI startups.

This move comes amid growing interest from venture capital investors, who are attracted by the strong returns in India’s IPO market.

Although Jensen Huang, Nvidia’s President and CEO, could not attend India’s AI Impact Summit due to “unforeseen circumstances,” the company is continuing to strengthen its presence in the country.

Nvidia currently supports over 4,000 Indian AI startups through its global startup program, helping them build, scale and enter the market. The company is also working with government agencies and research institutions to develop domestic data centres.

These initiatives align with New Delhi’s IndiaAI mission which aims to boost national AI capabilities and fund entrepreneurs.

The strategy supports Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of making India a global tech leader and strengthening AI infrastructure. As of September 2025, the government had approved $18 billion for semiconductor projects under the Semiconductor Mission to build a domestic supply chain.

A New Delhi official reportedly said on Tuesday that India expects up to $200 billion in data centre investments over the coming years.

Meanwhile, Nvidia is supporting Indian AI firms through its “NVIDIA Nemotron models,” a suite of AI tools for building chatbots, agents, and speech systems. These models allow Indian companies to train AI on local data and languages, supporting the country’s goal of developing sovereign AI.
