Drools Pet Food Pvt Ltd, an Indian pet food company, announced that it has received investment from Nestlé S.A., the global parent of Nestlé India.
This is likely Nestlé S.A.'s first such deal in India’s pet care space. The investment amount wasn’t disclosed.
Drools recently became India’s first pet care unicorn. As part of the deal, Nestlé S.A. will take a minority stake in the company. However, Drools said it will continue to run independently, both strategically and operationally.

Earlier in June 2023, global private equity firm L Catterton had also taken a minority stake in Drools. This new move comes as Nestlé India aims to grow its presence in the country’s pet food market.
“This is a testament to the love and trust of millions of pet parents and to our unwavering commitment to quality. Backed by a strong focus on science-based nutrition, Drools continues to drive innovation and build meaningful engagement with the evolving demographic of Indian pet parents, positioning itself at the forefront of the country’s pet care industry,” said Fahim Sultan, Founder of Drools Pet Food Pvt. Ltd. “
L Catterton Partner and Head of India Anjana Sasidharan said, “Drools has achieved significant growth since we invested in the company two years ago, through the high-quality in-market agility and execution, and a range of operational initiatives we have been working on with its management team to create value. We are thrilled that Nestle, that has such a renowned position in the global pet care and consumer brands space, joins as a minority partner.”
