Nazara Technologies Acquires 8.97% Stake in Absolute Sports for Rs 69.17 Cr

Listed gaming giant Nazara Technologies has acquired an additional 8.97% stake in Absolute Sports Private Limited, making Sportskeeda’s parent company its fully owned subsidiary.

Nazara first bought a 6.05% stake in Absolute Sports for Rs 19.99 Cr in 2022. It later acquired 10.26% more in December 2024 for Rs 72.73 Cr. The latest purchase of the remaining stake for Rs 69.17 Cr gives Nazara full ownership.

With this acquisition, Nazara now has complete control over Absolute Sports’ operations, finances and strategy as part of its effort to streamline its subsidiaries.

The company informed stock exchanges of the deal under SEBI regulations, following an earlier notification on February 27, 2025.

“…we wish to inform you that the company has acquired 18,330 equity shares of INR 1/- each, representing 8.97% of the equity share capital of Absolute, from the Sellers against payment of sale consideration of Rs 69.17 Crores,” Nazara said in an exchange filing.

Founded in 2010, Absolute Sports, the parent company of Sportskeeda, operates in media and entertainment, providing sports content, schedules, live scores, and gaming-related services. 

Nazara has been actively acquiring companies. In December 2024, it announced plans to increase its stake in three subsidiaries—NODWIN, Absolute Sports, and Datawrkz. It has also invested in Funky Monkeys and edtech startup Learntube.ai.

Financially, Nazara’s net profit dropped 53.5% to Rs 13.7 Cr in Q3 FY25 from Rs 29.5 Cr a year earlier. Compared to the previous quarter, profit fell 15.4% from Rs 16.2 Cr.
