MobiKwik To Infuse INR 10 Cr In NBFC Arm to Boost Lending Operations

About five months after entering the NBFC space, MobiKwik’s board approved an investment of ₹9.99 Cr in its NBFC arm, Mobikwik Financial Services Pvt Ltd (MFSPL). The investment will be made in one or more tranches by October 10.

MobiKwik said the investment aims to expand its NBFC operations, including leasing and hire-purchase deals for assets like machinery, equipment, vehicles, ships, aircraft, factories, and real estate.

MobiKwik set up its NBFC subsidiary on April 23 with an initial capital of ₹1 lakh. However, it has not applied for an NBFC licence, and it’s unclear if MFSPL is currently a licensed NBFC.

Before launching its own NBFC, MobiKwik partnered with banks and NBFCs to offer loans and credit cards. Having an in-house NBFC gives the company more control over lending, creates a new revenue stream from interest income, and opens up more cross-selling opportunities.

Last month, Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA) sold its entire 2.1% stake in One Mobikwik Systems for ₹39.21 crore at an average price of ₹238.45 per share. Major buyers included BofA Securities Europe and SI Investments, who together bought 9 lakh shares (1.15% stake) for ₹22.12 crore at ₹243.61–248.42 per share.

For Q1 FY26, Mobikwik’s net loss widened over six-fold to ₹41.9 crore from ₹6.6 crore a year ago, while operating revenue fell 20.7% YoY to ₹271.3 crore. The slowdown was mainly in its financial services segment, where revenue plunged 65% YoY from ₹170.7 crore to ₹58.3 crore.
