Before joining Mirae, Kumar was managing director at SteadView Capital, a tech- and India-focused fund. During his tenure, SteadView invested in more than 30 companies, including Zomato, nykaa, freshworks, Innovaccer, Chargebee, Ultrahuman, Atomberg, AEQUS, and Moengage. Nine of its portfolio companies went public while he was there.

“Joining an organisation with such a diversified portfolio, a global footprint, and a strong governance framework presents a unique opportunity to build one of the leading private investment franchises in India,” said Kumar in a statement.

Globally, Mirae’s venture arm mainly invests in technology, media and telecom, emerging businesses, life sciences and healthcare, deeptech, and energy. In India, its key investments include Eternal (formerly Zomato), Raise (parent of Dhan), Shadowfax, KreditBee and Big Basket.

As of November 30, 2025, the firm manages over ₹1,477 crore in assets across two Category II alternative investment funds in India. The India team is also set to play an important role in managing a new India-focused technology fund announced by South Korean gaming company Krafton, in partnership with Naver and Mirae Asset.

Globally, Mirae’s venture investments are mostly focused on Southeast Asia, Korea, and China, with some exposure to the US. Its global venture capital assets under management stand at about $4.4 billion.
