Matchmaking platform Juleo shuts down due to capital crunch

Delhi NCR-based Juleo, an online matchmaking platform, has shut down its operations.

The startup’s cofounder, Varun Sud, announced on LinkedIn that the company is “pausing” its services after being unable to secure more funding.

“We built an AI Matchmaker with zero scams, found product market fit and successfully got singles across India into relationships and marriages, but were sadly unable to get institutional investors to buy into our vision given baggage from past carcasses in the space,” Sud said.

Looking ahead, Sud suggested that he plans to start a new venture in the “consumer AI” space.

The startup had raised $2.5 million in August 2024 from angel investors, including Livspace cofounder Ramakant Sharma, CRED founder Kunal Shah, Acko cofounder Ruchi Deepak, and groww cofounders Harsh Jain and Lalit Keshre, among others.

About Juleo 

Founded in 2023 by Sud and Chiranjeev Ghai, Juleo provided subscription-based matchmaking services and later added offline community events for singles to complement its digital platform.

Its AI-powered feature, Genie, suggested potential matches and handled the logistics for in-person meetings. Women’s profiles were private by default, giving them control over who could see them.

The startup says its app was installed over 5 lakh times, had 1.5 lakh “Club” applicants, and helped facilitate several weddings and relationships across India.
