Lupin Ltd announced that it has acquired the anti-diabetic medicine 'Huminsulin' in India from Eli Lilly and Company for an undisclosed amount. Lupin has already been marketing the 'Huminsulin' products under existing agreements with Lilly, the company stated in a regulatory filing.
This move aims to strengthen Lupin's diabetes portfolio.Lupin has been marketing the Huminsulin range, including Huminsulin R, NPH, 50/50, and 30/70, through agreements with Lilly in India.
The Huminsulin products are essential for managing type 1 and type 2 diabetes by controlling blood sugar in adults and children. While insulin is vital for type 1 diabetes, it also becomes crucial for type 2 diabetes as the condition progresses.

Rajeev Sibal, President , India Region Formulations, Lupin, said, “Lupin has been at the forefront of providing holistic diabetes care to patients. The Huminsulin products are used to treat Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, helping to control blood sugar in both adults and children. Insulin is key in managing Type 1 diabetes and often becomes necessary for Type 2 diabetes as the disease progresses, the company said.
