KRAFTON Plans Increased Investment In First-Party Game Production

PUBG maker KRAFTON outlined its plan on Friday to secure a major franchise IP for the company in the mid-to-long term.

During a town hall meeting, KRAFTON's CEO, CH Kim, shared three key strategies for growth- increasing investment in first-party production, expanding publishing efforts and optimizing resource use.

First-party production refers to video games that are developed, owned, and run by the studio that creates the console platform. KRAFTON aims to invest more in this area to build original and competitive franchise IPs.

The company also plans to boost its lineup of new releases, attract new talent and improve its development capabilities across its 14 creative studios.

“Our new titles will officially launch starting this year. We are committed to securing a new ‘Big Franchise IP’ that builds on the success of ‘: BATTLEGROUNDS’ and look forward to driving exponential growth in corporate value through this step-by-step approach," said CH Kim.

To expand its user base and revenue, KRAFTON will focus on increasing both the quantity and quality of its IPs. The company plans to diversify its approach by using second-party publishing and licensing.

KRAFTON will also expand its platforms and improve its global publishing reach. Additionally, the company will allocate resources across the entire game development process, from creative ideas to production and commercialization.
