Karnataka Signs MoUs with IN-SPACe For Manufacturing Park, CoE

The Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe) and the Karnataka government have signed agreements to boost the space sector.

One deal is to set up a Centre of Excellence for Space Technologies in Bengaluru and another is to create a public-private space manufacturing park for building advanced satellites and launch-vehicle production.

The agreements were signed between IN-SPACe and Karnataka’s Department of Electronics, IT, Biotechnology, and Science & Technology.

IN-SPACe said these MoUs will help both sides work together to set up the Centre of Excellence for Space Technologies and the Space Manufacturing Park.

These agreements will help grow Karnataka’s space startup ecosystem in line with the Indian Space Policy, 2023, and encourage innovation in the sector.

IN-SPACe said it is leading India’s space efforts by making it easier to do business and involving both government and private players.

Pawan Goenka, chairman, IN-SPACe, said, “Karnataka has emerged as a hub for new-age space start-ups and enterprises. The MoUs will bolster this ecosystem and support the state and country’s efforts in succeeding in the new space era.”

“The MoUs with IN-SPACe mark a new chapter in Karnataka’s space journey, creating a seamless talent and value chain with the regulatory support required to compete globally,” said Karnataka’s Chief Secretary, Shalini Rajneesh.

He said IN-SPACe is excited to work closely with the state to develop and produce more satellites, engines, and deep-space technologies in Karnataka.

The state already has a strong space ecosystem, with ISRO’s headquarters, DRDO labs, and companies like HAL, BEL, BHEL, NAL, along with top research and academic institutions.
