Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has provided further details about the Indian Railways' upcoming “super app” for train-related services. Speaking in Parliament, he confirmed that the app will enable passengers to book unreserved tickets, file complaints, and access train availability and schedules in one integrated platform.
Vaishnaw described it as a passenger-focused initiative aimed at streamlining rail services.
The clarification came in response to questions from Telugu Desam Party MPs BK Parthasarathi and Bastipati Nagaraju. While the MPs sought details on the app’s launch timeline and development costs, Vaishnaw refrained from providing specifics.
This update follows Vaishnaw's earlier announcement in September about the development of the app.
Reports have suggested that the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) may spearhead its creation, integrating features such as ticket booking, real-time train status, parcel shipment, and even cab booking. Additionally, the app is expected to include a B2B segment to facilitate freight bookings for logistics companies.

Despite speculation, the exact launch date remains uncertain. Initial reports suggested a 100-day timeline following the swearing-in of the government, which lapsed in mid-September without the app’s release.
The Railways Ministry’s move aligns with a growing trend among tech companies and startups developing "super apps" that consolidate multiple services. Prominent fintech platforms like PhonePe, CRED, and groww have already adopted this model by bundling diverse offerings within single applications.
The initiative reflects Indian Railways' efforts to modernize and enhance passenger convenience, positioning itself alongside industry innovations while addressing passenger and logistics needs comprehensively.
