Indian Navy signs ₹47 crore deal with EyeROV for underwater drones

Kochi-based marine robotics startup EyeROV announced on Tuesday that it has secured a ₹47 crore contract from the Indian Navy to supply advanced underwater drones (UWROVs).

The company said the deal will boost the Navy’s capabilities with its homegrown technology. EyeROV’s UWROVs have been tested in extreme conditions, including rough deep seas and the Antarctic.

The EyeROV TROUT, rated for depths up to 300 metres, is built for both defence and commercial use. It can carry advanced payloads for tasks like underwater surveillance and reconnaissance.

“This recognition is a true reward for our dedicated efforts over the past eight years. We sincerely thank the iDEX and Navy teams for their support in fostering advanced indigenous solutions. In 2024, EyeROV raised $1.2 million in a Pre-Series A round from Unicorn India Ventures. The startup was named one of India’s top five defence-tech companies and won the National Startup Award in 2022.
