iMerit Launches Automotive AI Center in Coimbatore to Drive Innovation

iMerit, a global leader in AI data solutions, has inaugurated its Automotive AI Center of Excellence in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. The center focuses on advancing autonomous mobility, leveraging multisensor fusion and cutting-edge AI tools.

iMerit, a global leader in software-driven AI data solutions, has inaugurated an Automotive AI Center of Excellence in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu

This new facility highlights the company's commitment to innovation in the AI-driven automotive sector, a field projected by Nasscom to grow to $7.5 billion globally by 2028 at a CAGR of 21.5%.

The Coimbatore center is iMerit’s 12th location and was inaugurated by Dr. Palanivel Thiagarajan, Tamil Nadu’s Minister of Information Technology and Digital Services. 

The event was attended by iMerit’s leadership, employees, and esteemed guests. The company has already onboarded over 220 employees in Coimbatore and aims to double this figure within the next fiscal year.

iMerit’s Automotive AI solutions cater to autonomous mobility markets, including trucking, drones, and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).

The company’s flagship AI data platform, Ango Hub, underpins these efforts, enabling advanced solutions in multisensor fusion, 3D data annotation, and generative AI. This technology driven approach enhances innovation while maintaining a focus on ethical Ai practices.

Dr. Palanivel Thiagarajan praised iMerit’s rapid execution noting that the center was established within six months. He highlighted how AI companies are revolutionizing industries and fostering inclusive growth by creating employment opportunities, particularly for underrepresented groups. Notably women comprise 52% of iMerit’s workforce, with many serving as sole earners for their families.

iMerit CEO and Founder Radha Ramaswami Basu emphasized Coimbatore’s unique blend of industrial strength and technological expertise. “Automotive AI is our largest vertical, contributing to 60% of our revenues. Coimbatore’s talent pool and infrastructure make it an ideal location for expansion,” she stated.

Anupam Biswas, Chief Delivery Officer, added that the facility has already trained over 220 experts in multisensor fusion, who are actively working on critical customer projects. 

With the global AI data management market expected to grow to $ 25.53 billion by 2030 iMerits investments in Coimbatore position it to capitalize on burgeoning opportunities in India and beyond.

As Coimbatore emerges as a hub for AI and automotive innovation, iMerits strategic expansion exemplifies its commitment to shaping the future of technology responsibly and inclusively.
