Groww Gets Online Bond Distribution Licence From SEBI

Bengaluru-based wealth-tech company groww has received the Online Bond Platform Provider (OBPP) licence from Sebi, according to media reports.

The licence will let Groww sell listed corporate bonds to retail investors online. It’s an important step as the company looks to expand its products and revenue streams.

The company, which mainly makes money from stockbroking, is now expanding into wealth management (via Fisdom), credit products (like loans against securities), and fixed-income investments.

Groww has been acquiring multiple licences to offer a full range of services to retail investors. It began with direct mutual funds, then expanded into stockbroking, obtained an NBFC licence for lending, and launched an asset management business by acquiring Indiabulls AMC.

In June, media reports said Groww planned to apply for the OBPP licence. With it now in hand, Groww can compete with platforms like Wint Wealth, Jiraaf, and Grip Invest.

Data shows that transactions on NSE’s RFQ (Request for Quote) platform rose to 1,54,751 in October 2025, up from 43,167 in April 2025. The RFQ platform handles trades entered by stockbrokers registered under the debt segment and OBPPs.

According to NSE Market Pulse, NSE accounts for 90% of OBPP transactions.

On November 12, Groww got listed on Indian stock exchanges. Its market capitalisation is Rs 93,313 crore, with a stock price of Rs 151 on the BSE. In the September quarter, Groww posted an operating revenue of Rs 1,018 crore and a net profit of Rs 471 crore.
