Granules India Acquires Swiss-based Firm; To Enter Into CDMO Space

Granules India Limited has acquired Senn Chemicals AG, a Swiss contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) that specializes in peptides, for Rs 192 crore. 

The acquisition is expected to close in the first half of 2025, pending certain conditions. 

Senn brings expertise in liquid-phase and solid-phase peptide synthesis, along with a strong CDMO business and established customer relationships across the pharmaceutical, cosmetics, amino acid derivatives and theragnostic sectors.

Purpose of Acquisition

With this acquisition, Granules expands its capabilities in the growing field of peptide-based therapeutics. The company also aims to enter the fast-growing peptide market for anti-diabetic and anti-obesity treatments.

Senn, which develops and manufactures peptides for global clients, will give Granules access to its R&D expertise and regulated market customers, helping the company grow its presence worldwide.
