Tech giant Google is set to establish its first Safety Engineering Centre (GSEC) in India, located in Hyderabad.
This will be the second GSEC in the Asia Pacific region and the fifth globally, following the success of centers in locations like Tokyo.
In a significant development, the Telangana government has signed an agreement with Google, which already has its largest campus outside the U.S. in Hyderabad.
The GSEC will act as a cybersecurity hub, driving advancements in security products and offering a collaborative platform for artificial intelligence-driven security solutions, along with a research base for cybersecurity experts.

The partnership aims to enhance skill development and job creation while boosting the countrys cybersecurity capabilities. The Hyderabad center will focus on developing solutions tailored to the Indian context with a strong emphasis on cutting-edge research and AI security technologies.
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy expressed his enthusiasm about the agreement highlighting it as a milestone that will position Hyderabad as a global leader in safety engineering and cybersecurity. He also noted the potential for significant job creation for local youth.
Cloud Centre of Excellence
In addition to the GSEC, Google plans to set up a Cloud Centre of Excellence (C-CoE) in Hyderabad, focused on advancing cloud technologies. Furthermore, Google is exploring a partnership with the Telangana government to create India’s first Intelligent Traffic Management System powered by Google, alongside the establishment of a Google Startup Hub and educational initiatives, including programs in school education and skill development for young people.
