freshworks founder Girish Mathrubootham is moving further away from management. The company announced on Friday that he will soon step down as Executive Chairman of the Board.

“G’s passion and entrepreneurial courage led to the creation of this special company and we honor his decision to step away from an official Freshworks role to spend more time mentoring and investing in founders just like him through the Together Fund,” the company added.
On X, Mathrubootham shared that after 15 years, he will step down as Executive Chairman of Freshworks, effective December 1.
“What started in Chennai grew into a global SaaS company on Nasdaq — thanks to an amazing team & customers. Freshworks will always be Kudumba and thanks to the incredible people and culture, it’s been the journey of a lifetime,” he said.
This move comes a little over a year after Freshworks announced in May 2024 that Dennis Woodside would become CEO, while Mathrubootham would transition to Executive Chairman.
On Friday, Mathrubootham said on X that he will now focus on Together Fund and AI startups, while contributing to India’s vision of becoming a “Product Nation.”
