HCL Technologies has appointed Amitabh Kant, former Niti Aayog CEO and India’s G20 Sherpa, as an Additional Independent Director on its board.
The appointment is for a five-year term, effective yesterday until September 7, 2030, HCL said in a filing.

"We are delighted to have Amitabh Kant join the Board. His rich experience in building public sector institutions and contribution to India's reforms will offer immense insights towards shaping HCLTech's growth strategy," said Roshni Nadar Malhotra, Chairperson, HCLTech, in the exchange filing.
"HCLTech is among the finest corporate institutions in India. I am pleased to be part of its growth journey and look forward to working with the Board," said Amitabh Kant.
Amitabh Kant, 69, led as India’s G20 Sherpa (2022–2023), culminating in the unanimous adoption of the New Delhi Leaders' Declaration, which built global consensus on key issues.
Beyond the G20, Amitabh Kant has held several senior roles in the Government of India, including CEO of NITI Aayog, head of the Department for Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP), CEO of DMICDC, and Secretary of Tourism, Kerala.
