Ex-Housing.com CEO Jason Kothari Launches a Next-Gen Entertainment Tech Company Mythik

Jason Kothari, former CEO of Housing.com, has launched a new entertainment company called Mythik. 

This tech-driven venture will focus on bringing stories from Eastern mythology, folktales and history to global audiences.

Kothari, who earlier held leadership roles at Snapdeal and FreeCharge, believes that while Western stories dominate entertainment worldwide, there’s a big opportunity to showcase Eastern stories too.

“Global entertainment has been dominated by Hollywood and Western stories. It’s time to share Eastern stories - our history, culture, values, and greatest legends - with the world, leveraging cutting-edge technology across all aspects of the business to create a new tech-first entertainment company,” said Kothari.

Mythik hasn’t revealed its project lineup or release dates yet, but its team includes top talent from companies like Disney, Netflix, Amazon Studios, Jio, and Tencent. The goal is to create engaging content for over 3.5 billion people across Asia and beyond.

Kothari’s journey as an entrepreneur began while he was at Wharton, when he bought the bankrupt comic company Valiant Entertainment, turned it around, and sold it for $100 million. He was also an executive producer of Bloodshot, a movie starring Vin Diesel based on a Valiant character.

He became CEO of Housing.com in 2015 after Rahul Yadav’s exit, later joining Snapdeal and FreeCharge in senior roles. Today, he also serves on the board of Emaar India and has advised companies like Balaji Telefilms and Noon.
